After the usual buffet breakfast, we took a bus ride through Honolulu to Pearl Harbor. We had some time to explore the bookshop and a small museum. Then we watched a film about December 7, 1941 and why Pearl Harbor is a memorial. After the film, we boarded a launch and rode out to the USS Arizona Memorial. We looked at the remains of the Arizona and the wall which contained the names of all the personnel who lost their lives in the attack on December 7. It is always a sobering occasion to visit that memorial. We got back to the hotel about 1 PM and had a free afternoon. We went down to the beach where Sierra and Don swam in the ocean while Loretta sat in the shade, reading her book. We returned to the hotel about 5 PM and then left on foot for dinner at "Makitti Hawaii". This restaurant had a very big buffet, but tended to specialize in seafood. It was quite crowded, but we managed okay. They also had some entertainment, the usual hula dancers and a couple of fire walkers. After dinner we returned to the hotel where our leaders attempted to teach everyone how to do a hula (without much success).
