After a late breakfast at 7:30 AM we departed by bus for the North Shore via the east side of the island. We made several stops along the way for some sightseeing. About 930 we got to Kaiona Beach Park where we did some snorkeling. Both Sierra and Loretta ventured out into the ocean. I spent some time snorkeling and managed to get a good picture of a big turtle. We changed back into our street clothes and had a beach side picnic luncheon. The bus then took us to the Polynesian Cultural Center. After checking our swimming gear in lockers. We wandered around the PCC, where we watched "Rainbow in Paradise"a presentation of twin hulled canoes carrying natives in costume representing different islands in the Pacific. The girls watched a movie about Hawaii and then we all walked up to the Hawaiian Village display. Sierra and Hannah tried throwing native spears, they played Hawaiian checkers and tried rolling stones through wickets. We also had great big shave ice cones. At 5 o'clock we went into a big hall where a Hawaiian luau dinner was presented. Before dinner there were performances with dancers. The food was quite good and most interesting were the purple colored rolls. After dinner we walked to the other end of PCC to a big semi-outdoor auditorium. We watched a performance was called "HA- the breath of life". There were lots of dancers in costumes from different islands but the storyline was kind of confusing. They did have some very interesting fire twirlers at the end of the show. We reported the bus and arrived back at the hotel about 11 PM after a full day
