Sunday July 28, 2013

On Sunday morning we had breakfast at 7 AM in the hotel restaurant and Sierra even ordered her own omelette. After breakfast we had a lecture on marine life by a young woman who specialized in aquatic resources. We boarded a bus for Kahalu'u Bay. We spent the next several hours snorkeling in the bay.,This bay usually has quite a few colorful fish but I didn't see many this time. Sierra was in the water, but didn't want to venture out very far. She seemed to be having trouble with her snorkel equipment. We returned to the hotel and we had a free afternoon. This hotel is quite a ways away from downtown Kona, so we chose to stay at the hotel. Loretta remained in the room reading while Sierra, Hannah and I enjoyed the big swimming pool. One of the features of the pool was a 200 foot long waterslide which the girls used to good advantage. After several hours, we returned to the room and rested up a bit before we went to dinner. After dinner, the evening was free of activities. We walked out onto the viewing pier looking for Manta Rays. We never did see any but we watched the surf crashing on the rocks and had a very nice sunset.
